Introducing our February 2025 Demonstrator - Pen Shephard

Artist PEN SHEPHARD, has been painting and teaching for over 30 years and won numerous art prizes and sold hundreds of paintings.
She is renowned for her unique technique and fine detail and tutors her students with valuable knowledge of tonal values and perspective.  Her speciality are miniatures that encompass traditional style painting into a tiny 100mm square canvas.  Pen’s chosen medium, oil on wood and the use of tiny brushes, enables her to create exquisitely detailed artwork in various subject matter.  Acrylic can be used instead for you miniature!
  • “My art isn’t to create an ambience in a room, but to be looked at.  I love to see observers, walk up close to my art and peer into it.  I want them to feel like they can walk into my artwork and experience the beauty of an apple or absorb the coolness of a muddy creek.  I love to teach others how to recognise different tones to create a 3 dimensional effect on a 2 dimensional surface.  I feel everyone has the ability to paint.”
Pen won the overall art Championship prize at the Morisset AG Show last year with this fabulous artwork in oil (look at that reflection)!

Introducing our March 2025 Demonstrator - Marlene Palagyi - Watercolour
Artist Marlene Palagyi is a recognised talent on the Central Coast art scene, having taken up her life-long interest in painting at age 58 when she made the decision to seriously pursue her passion.  Her art has evolved through acrylics and pastels to the soft translucency of watercolours, under the influence of many artists.  She is an enthusiastic member of the Central Coast Art Society , the Central Coast Watercolour Society and Toukley And District Art Society and contributes to their many workshop and tutorial programmes.

What Our Members Are Saying

Art Lovers Movement offers a friendly environment where you can learn from others to grow as an artist.  They invite a range of guest artists to conduct demonstrations in their preferred medium and offer the opportunity for members to participate in a workshop following the demonstration so we can put what we have been shown into practice for ourselves.  I highly recommend paying a visit to Art Lovers to experience this for yourself - Julie Cummings
